FRUIT OVERVIEW

Pomegranate (Punica grantum) is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub – filled with edible juice seed sacs called arils that has sweet-tart flavor. Pomegranate has thick red skin, inedible, that is round with flower-shaped stem. Pomegranates are rich in antioxidant (mainly punicalagin and punicalins). They also contain folate, potassium, vitamin C and K, and a good source of fiber. Their arils are eaten fresh as snacks, juices, and or toss on top of salad, yogurt, cereal, ice cream and many other dishes.
